The media product that I produced was, a front cover, contents page, and double page spread of a Urban RnB music magazine. For this reason I decided to emulate Vibe magazine.
The way my media work uses or challenges real media products are that, the front page uses no more than three colours the mice en scene is appropriate to the genre. I used the color’s red and black which creates a contrast and makes them stand out be bold and laud also relates to the genre of the magazine. Also the colours match with the main image I have used because it matches the outfit therefore creates a house style through my magazine. I have used a sky line which tells the reader what they will expect inside the magazine, which will be attractive as they are well known names. The masthead is called “The Shock” which is in red and black and that tie in with the house style. This tells the reader that what they will find inside the magazine will be explicit this suggest they will be finding out exclusive information about well known artists. Also the “The” is in a graffiti font which ties in with the RnB Urban genre and reflects the readers interests. I have used a Pun which says “Kimmi Bares All” this is also red which ties in with the house style also I am using the rule of thirds as the audience get drawn to her face which is in the top right intersection on the page, and this may excite the reader as it gives the impression that she will be reveling things about herself and it suggests that she may be scantily clad which also relates to the genre. The main image is also draws the reader in as she is not making eye contact as she is looking down at the floor and is looking coy and mysterious and it looks like she trying to flirt with the reader. What she is wearing is typical and fashionable and this reflects the genre of the magazine and what the readers would wear and that is relatable to the reader. In the one strap line I have used intertexuality as the word “bonkers” is also a song that he has written and I have used that word to describe him it also creates a private joke between the magazine and the reader. In another strap line I have used the word “Exclusive” which makes it sound like it is cutting edge and withheld and cannot be found anywhere else.
In The contents page I have kept the house style the same as I have used the same colours, red, black and white, The main image I have used is similar to the main image I used in my front cover, as the model is not giving eye contact so she looks mysterious, I have also enphaisisd her lips whist the image is black and white the red lips stand out and makes her look more seductive; this includes both men and women as men would want to be with her, and women would like to be like her, it is enough to be provocative to men, however she is not so titillating as to intimidate women. I have also used a direct quote from an upcoming artist that is quite controversial which will involve the reader, it reflects the controversial nature of RnB music.
In the double page spread the main image I have used, a well known group, the image has been photo shopped to blur out all the band members expect for one, that makes that one individual stand out. Also the language i have used throughout the spread is expletives. Also I have used informal language such as “Beef.” the affects of using this type of language is that it relates to the readers.
The media institution that would distribute my magazine would be InterMedia Partners. They currently distribute Vibe magazine which is the magazine I was emulating. This magazine is distributed nationally throughout America; this magazine is well known in featuring famous artists and public figures, such as Mary J Blige, Ciara. Aaliyah and Barack Obama.
The age groups I have created this magazine for is 16-25 year olds. This is evident as the models I have used represent young people and the artists I have mentions their music and work is also aimed at the same age groups. This is aspirational to the audience as the models and artists may role models for a lot of young people.
I have gained a lot of knowledge about technology throughout doing this task, for example I have learned how to use a digital camera and how to adjust the lenses and focus, and use different features on the camera, also how to move the photos taken onto a computer. Also I have experimented with different camera angles and learned how they can reflect status. I have also gained a lot of knowledge about how to use the software Photoshop and how I edited images for example changing lighting, apacity and lasso tool
In conclusion after crating and finalizing my project I have learned a lot about different technology’s, also about magazines and magazine audiences how different features on a magazine may appeal to different age groups, and how to draw readers into a magazine, and I am pleased with the final product.

The images i used in my double page spread are of a "Rnb Band" "Beat Killers" the iomage has been edited in phtoshop to make the meber leaveing stand out as the other mebers blur in the backround, the consept of the double page sprerad is that one of the member from the group has left and the magaxzine has interviewd the band members, also on the spread are various qutes that were said by members of the band in previous magazines, and al the quotes are explained in the interview questions, also at the right hand corner shows what is comeing up on the folwing pages the interview with "kimmi" which also ties in with the front cover.

This is my contents page. the image i used was a median close up shot, i chose this image is an "upcomeing artist" and it looks like she is in thort it also ties in with the main quote. the image started of with normal colours however i wanted to make it tie in with the colour scheem wich was red black and white which was the front covers main colours. this will make the frontcover and contents page look more familer with one and other, and make it look like a genuine magazine, so i changed the images contrast bu i left the lips red to make it match with the subheadings and to stil stand out, as havein so much text on top of the image it may take atention off the image. the tex features on the right hand side of the cover wehich show the page numbers, i have used some quotes in that by artists bu not giveing to much information as it is just the contets page.

The main image of the magazine cover i have created is of a "Urban Music Artist", the image is framed with straplines that are fitted around the image and to bring out the images best asets also the main images head is covering abit of the mashead, which makes the magazine look more exculsive. the main image is dressed to fit the genre which is RnB Urban the pose and cloths fits that. the colours that i have used contrast with eachother to make the writing stand out, the masthead and kiker have the same colour so it blends in, the colour used were Black, White and Red. the colours also match the image.the pose of the image is very shy like as the modle is looking down which also contrasts alittle with the kiker as it says " kimmi bares all" which would make the reader intrester to read the magazine. the image wil relate to audiance that are intrested in RnB Urban music and relates to the age groups of 16 - 25 year olds which is more the magazines target audiance.

The name of the magazine is "The SHOCK" that fits in with the genre of the magazine and makes the magazine sound more intresting to read. Some of the starplines have linguistic devices, such as "exculsive interview with", and "Kimmi Bares all" is the pun it soundes like she wil bere all as in how she is dresses and that she will tell; everyone how she is realy feeling. All these devices make the magazine sound intresting to read.

All the Convention on the front cover, fit around the image and try to compliment the image and its assets. For example the strap lines that are on the right hand side are curvy to fit the women's curves which emphasis them much more, and portrays the image that most urban, R n B female artists are like that. Also the women's head is overlapping the masthead it shows that it is a famous magazine which means people will already know the magazines name so it doesn't matter if it is not all showing, also the image is on the right hand side in the rule of thirds, the look that she gives is very titillating and seductive which makes us look strait at her eyes and the light is hitting of her curves which makes them stand out as well.

After taking a series of phtographs for my front cover I chose this one because it was a medium close up shot and it had potential to edit with photoshop, this image started of as a row of pupils on computers, I used the bluring affects on all but one pupil and their keybord, this made the shot more pupil and computer specific. The reason that I choose a sixthformer with non uniform rather then a regular uniform student, is because it makes the cover feel more grown up and adult and it wil also appear more appealing and relatable to the upper school pupils aswel as the younger. this picture portrays an image of a student hard at work and is good for the schools reputation. The strap lines i made relevent to the picture so about ICT so that the picture blends in with the theme.
